2024 Physician Champion honoree  

Providence St. Joseph Hospital Foundation is honored to celebrate Join Y. Luh, M.D., as the 2024 Philanthropy Physician Champion Award recipient.

Known among his oncology patients for his genuine interest in their lives and backgrounds prior to their diagnosis, Dr. Luh is beloved for his compassion, empathy and pursuit of excellence in his field.

Dr. Luh has practiced in Humboldt County since 2007 and holds positions in many local and national physician professional organizations. An incredible healer and humble professional despite his many accolades — including national recognition from his peers — Dr. Luh is a treasure in our community and at the Foundation.

Dr. Luh’s dedication to philanthropy at Providence St. Joseph Hospital has made a significant impact. When speaking with donors, Dr. Luh is adept at highlighting the transformative difference philanthropy makes.

He’s an active member of the Foundation board and a positive ambassador, helping to secure donor support for vital equipment purchases in the Radiation Oncology Center and the newest philanthropy-led initiative, Destination Humboldt.

From actively participating in philanthropy events to making one-on-one connections at donor salons, Dr. Luh exemplifies what it means to be a true advocate for philanthropy.
